The Engineer is a Class featured in Brink.

Overview

Establish and defend tactical zones, deploy and repair automated defensive systems, and improve your team's weapons.

Engineers are a support class, aimed on aiding the other members of the team as they push the front line forward. They come equipped with a Repair Tool used to complete Build or Repair Objectives and construct objects such as turrets and machine gun nests. They are also able to deploy Pyro Mines used to create areas of denial for the enemy team. Finally they have the ability to buff teammates' weapon damage for a short period of time.

Engineers are also the only class capable of defusing high-explosive bombs placed by Soldiers and removing the hacking device placed by Operatives. Their Abilities focus on expanding this mentality by allowing them to construct auto-turrets and further boost their buff and deployment abilities.

Equipment

Construction

Engineer multi tool

Constructing an MG Nest.

Construction is done by approaching the object in question and interacting with it for a short period of time. Multiple Engineers can construct an object faster by interacting with it at the same time.

You must remain in contact with the object during construction, however players may disengage at any time to deal with other tasks and then continue construction later if needed.

Soldiers can demolish some secondary objectives using their HE Charges. It is important to set up defenses once construction is complete so as to keep the benefits for as long as possible.

Pyro Mines

Engineer Mine

Deploying a Pyro Mine

In order to place Mines, players must select the appropriate Ability shortcut. A white outline of the mine will then appear on the ground and players can move around to alter its position.

Some areas do not allow deployment of objects, the outline will turn red if the mine is currently undeployable. Once a desired location has been found, hold the action button to begin deploying the mine.

Mines are normally hidden to the enemy team. However, enemy Operatives can spot mines for their team by placing a mark on the radar and enemy Engineers can then defuse mines using their Repair Tool.

Weapon Buffs

To temporarily buff teammates' weapon damage, look at the desired teammate and attempt to interact with them. The Engineer will toss an upgrade tool which takes immediate effect.

If the player is not currently in range to throw the upgrade tool, they will automatically run to get in range before completing the task. This run can be interrupted by attempting to move in any direction.
